Whilst millions of travellers cross borders each year without the need for a paper visa, many millions more still find their journeys restricted by complicated application processes and paperwork. We've seen much progress on this front however, with ever greater levels of cooperation between countries and the introduction of simpler, quicker and cheaper processes often aided by new identification technologies.
Our research shows the benefits that secure visa facilitation regulations can bring to a country in terms of promoting Travel & Tourism and driving job growth. We've produced three reports in particular which use detailed case studies to highlight the potential gains that visa policy reforms can realise.

Many ASEAN countries .have collaborated to make visa applications more straightforward, introducing policies that allow many nationalities to visit with fewer restrictions. But there's greater opportunity still. This report shows how the ASEAN region stands to gain between 6 to 10 million additional international tourist arrivals from further improved visa facilitation.
Impact of Visa Facilitation on APEC EconomiesOctober 2013
Results of this report show that facilitating visas for tourists could provide an additional US$ 89 billion in international tourism receipts generated by 57 million more tourists visiting APEC destinations. This growth in inbound tourist numbers could create as many as 2.6 million additional jobs in the APEC economies.

This G20 study reveals that visa facilitation has historically increased international tourist arrivals by 5 to 25% following the implementation of policy changes. The actual gain depends largely on the specific visa facilitation actions taken and the markets affected.
